BBL Laser Treatments

BBL Laser Treatments

At some point, we all have to face it: our skin won’t appear young, smooth, and supple forever. Sun, pollution, harsh cleansers, hormonal changes, and overall aging eventually take their toll. And what are we left with? Dull, uneven skin and what seem like never-ending fine lines. Fortunately, however, lackluster skin is fixable, and at Derma Dolce, we have the tools you need to help you get your glow back.

Broadband Light Therapy, commonly referred to as BBL laser, is a type of phototherapy used to target the effects of aging and over-exposure. As the world’s most powerful Intense Pulsed Light device, the BBL laser works to improve a number of skin abnormalities using varying wavelengths of light energy. And the best part? Because BBL treatments are non-invasive, downtime is non-existent! Contact our team today for more information.

Broadband Light Therapy Target Areas

BBL treatments target a number of skin issues associated with aging, hormonal changes, and environmental exposure. In fact, in the largest study of its kind, researchers found that individuals who received long-term BBL treatments appeared on average 11 years younger than their actual age!

Hyperpigmentation becomes visible when excess melanin production causes darkening of small areas of your skin. Both age spots and sunspots are very common types of hyperpigmentation, and while harmless, they aren’t exactly a joy to behold. Melasma, another type of hyperpigmentation, often occurs as a result of sun exposure, hormonal changes, and even some cosmetic products. Hyperpigmentation laser treatments target these annoying blemishes by breaking down the excess melanin responsible for these spots.

Redness Reduction

Looking like you got a little too much sun is never fun, especially when you work hard to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. But if you live with excess skin redness, you know this reality all too well. BBL laser provides redness reduction by targeting the tiny veins and blood vessels that give your skin its red appearance.

Laser Hair Reduction

Too much hair in all the wrong places? Broadband Light Therapy can help with that. Widely acknowledged as the most comfortable and safest laser hair removal option, BBL lasers target each hair follicle with multiple bursts of intense photo energy. Unlike traditional laser hair removal devices, our lasers heat each hair follicle evenly while simultaneously cooling the skin. Because they gradually increase the temperature of each hair follicle to a therapeutic level, BBL treatments protect your skin while ridding it of unsightly hair.

Blue Light Acne

If you’ve tried just about everything to achieve clear skin but still struggle with acne, a BBL treatment is for you! This cutting-edge acne treatment is a two-step process that uses the power of light to regenerate and calm inflamed, acne-prone skin. First, blue light works to eradicate acne-causing bacteria deep within your pores. Second, yellow light works to stimulate regeneration, while reducing redness and inflammation associated with persistent blemishes. What you’re left with is healthy, vibrant, clear skin!

How Does Broadband Light Therapy Work?

Broadband Light Therapy draws on the power of light to improve a wide variety of skin conditions. Using multiple pulses of intense photo-thermal energy, BBL lasers target skin abnormalities by penetrating the skin with varying wavelengths of light. As the laser gently and evenly heats the skin, photo-thermal energy stimulates skin cell regeneration.

This process promotes increased collagen production, resulting in noticeably firmer, smoother, more elastic skin. Photo-thermal energy also targets and reduces excess melanin, as well as tiny blood vessels that result in the appearance of red skin.

What to Expect With Broadband Light Therapy

BBL treatments are especially effective at correcting skin abnormalities in fair-skinned individuals. Those with darker skin tones may not be ideal candidates, as the laser may cause further hyperpigmentation. Treatments are safe, non-invasive, require very little downtime, and can be applied to almost any area of the body.

  • During the Procedure: Most patients report feeling a brief, warm, snapping or popping sensation as their skin absorbs the light energy during treatment. Your treatment time will vary based on the area being treated and the type of procedure you receive.
  • After the Procedure: It is normal to experience redness and warmth immediately following your procedure, which generally lasts 2-4 hours. Depending on the intensity of your treatment, you may also experience a burning sensation and slight swelling. Brown spots or patches will appear darker immediately after treatment, and within days, will appear even darker. Eventually, these areas will become rough and will gradually slough off to reveal new, healthy skin!
  • Continued Treatment: The number of treatments you require depends on several factors, including the severity of your condition, the size of your treatment area, and your existing pigmentation. Typically, 3-5 treatments resolve most skin issues; however, certain individuals may require more. We recommend about two to four weeks in between treatments to give your skin plenty of time to recover and regenerate.
